Volunteers' Week Celebration 2008
Volunteers' Week (1-7 June) was the UK's annual celebration of the work volunteers do. During this week events were held across the country to recognise, reward and recruit volunteers. Cookstown and Magherafelt Volunteer Centre celebrated with an outing to The Ulster Folk and Transport Museum Cultra, then on to Victoria Square Belfast for some shopping, followed by an evening meal at The Mill Court, Coalisland. At Cultra the annual Emmerdale Extravaganza was taking place where the volunteers got to meet the stars watch the Strongman World Record attempt, aerobatic shows, fashion shows, as well as view the great attractions of the museum itself.

During volunteers’ week the centre also held an information stand in Meadowlane shopping centre, Magherafelt to provide information to potential volunteers and celebrate and acknowledge volunteers’ week. On behalf of the Cookstown and Magherafelt Volunteer centre I would like to take this opportunity to thank Meadowlane Shopping Centre, Magherafelt District Council, InVOLve and Snackbox for helping to make volunteers’ week a huge success.
